In this new day and age…

In this new day and age
We live in a dark cage
Neither as monks nor sage
But full of wrath and rage

Cage, not of metal bars
Of many rooted scars
Beneath the sky and stars
Unspoken, unseen scars

Socially active we may seem
Too necessary it may deem
Ignoring that inner scream
To love, laugh and chase a dream

Whom are we trying to please?
When we are sure, not at ease
Giving them our smile at lease
Questioning fate, saying please

What is or will be?
Not for me to see
Why judge he or she?
Why not look in me?

Every day we can learn
More, this way we can earn
Don't look back and turn
Don't stop by and yearn

Short life as it is
To see what there is
Not to hate or miss
Live, just as it is

Why say rest in peace?
Leaving every piece
Why not live in peace?
Adding every piece

Promise today you must make
For yours, mine and this world's sake
Understand the real and fake
Learn from every mistake

One life only is at stake
For every good step to take
Not just destiny or fate
Life's moments are what you make
